Jump the Line Advocacy & Consultation Services
Initial Consultation: In this 15 minute initial conversation, we can discuss what you are looking for from Jump the Line and how we can best meet your needs. We will discuss service options and get you scheduled! This consultation can happen through a phone call or video chat.
Parent Coaching (In Person, Phone or Video Chat):
To be straightforward, parenting a child with special needs can be incredibly overwhelming. Between all of the unsolicited advice, appointments, evaluations, specialists, it can seem impossible to just figure out how to get through every day. In a parent coaching session, I can help you make plans for interventions to try at home to support your child. We can discuss things you are struggling with and come up with ideas to solve the problem. I can help you create communication boards or visual supports to use in your home with your child. Basically, anything you need help with in regards to your child, we can cover in a 60 minute session in person, over the phone, or via video chat.
Behavioral Consultation (In-Home or at School):
Is your child exhibiting challenging behaviors at home or at school? Are you or your child's teacher/caregiver unsure of how to handle these behaviors? If you are feeling at a loss, set up a behavioral consultation with me. I can come observe your child at school or at home for a half day or a full day and we can meet afterwards to discuss my observations. Then we will come up with a plan on how to best support you and the team of people supporting your child. This consultation will include written reports and plans, dialogue between me and the team, and the observation.
One-on-One Play Session (for ages 0-5):
This service is perfect for children that are on the waitlist to receive early intervention services or who maybe need some extra support in addition to their current therapies. I will work on anything that you feel your child needs support with but most importantly, we will PLAY. Children in this age group learn the most through play. Sessions will be enriched with language, important play skills, connection, and FUN. This service will include weekly documentation of sessions, progress notes monthly, and frequent check ins with the family.
One-on-One Tutor Session (for school age children 5-10):
If you feel that your child needs extra support with their academics, this service is the perfect one for you. If your child has an IEP, we can target their academic goals specifically and give them extra support with those. If you have a child who you feel needs extra help with a specific subject, we can do that too. This service includes collaboration with your child's teacher, the child themself, as well as the parents/guardians.
Small Play Group (up to 4 children):
The most common discussion I have with parents and families is how they wish that their child had more opportunities to be around their peers. Often there are families that I work with who I wish I could get together to socialize and learn from each other. With this service, we can combine children of your choosing or you can express interest in getting your child in a play group that I will then set up. Depending on interest, this could take time to set up. This service would only include the play group session and discussion with parents about progress. Written progress reports can also be provided upon request and for an additional fee.
Parent Meet-Up:
Sometimes you just need to bounce some thoughts about your child off of someone who understands what you are trying to say. Sometimes you have a million questions or you have ideas or things you are wondering. Sometimes you notice some behaviors that your child is doing that you want someone else to see and give their opinion on. With this service, we can meet up with your child or without them at a mutual location to talk. During a meet-up, we could then also discuss potential for need of further services or I can point you in the right direction of what's next for your child.
Advocacy Services:
Are you struggling to communicate clearly with your child's teacher or therapist? Do you need more from your service providers but don't know how to ask for it? Do you find all of the paperwork to be incredibly confusing and need help completing it or understanding it? Do CPSE/CSE meetings overwhelm you? Do you wish you had someone there with you to ask questions or make sure you say everything that you want to say? The fact is YOU are your child's number one advocate and voice! Let me help you be the best version of that for your child! There is so much to think about and keep track of. A lot of times families aren't aware of everything that is available to support their child. I can guide you to finding the services you and your child have a right to. I can attend meetings with you if that's what you need. Or we can get together and go through your child's IEP to make sure you understand every piece of it. This service is totally personalized to what you are looking for assistance with when it comes to advocating for what they need.
Teacher Support
Phone/Video Consultation (60 minutes): Are you a new teacher with minimal experience supporting students with special needs? Are you a seasoned teacher with a new type of student that you have never worked with before? Do you have unanswered questions that you would like personalized answers to? Reach out to me for this service and I will support you in any way that I can through conversation!
In-Class Support: This service must be booked through the school district and with permission from any parent/guardian involved. The intention of this service is to provide in-class support to teachers who need guidance on how to work with a specific student or group of students. Sometimes having a new set of eyes with a different set of experiences come in and observe and provide input can really help point you in the right direction as a teacher. Sometimes administration or therapy staff don't have time in their busy schedules to provide personalized, in the moment training to support a child. When I was classroom teacher, I wished that I had this service option on so many occasions. Let me support you in the way that you need and deserve!
Training Sessions:
This service is perfect for a superintendent's conference day or in-service day for teachers. Also if a group of teachers are looking for specific guidance in relation to special education or students with disability this would be the service for them. Teachers need more opportunity to sit down and talk to other teachers. My training approach is intended to be conversational and purposeful. This service can be a lecture setting if that is what is desired but personally, I prefer to really talk about what teachers want and need to talk about. I will provide a visual presentation with this service if that is desired, along with hand outs and take aways. I will also be accessible via email with any additional questions and requests with this service.
*All services include written reports summarizing plans, goals and progress. Lengths of services can be negotiated on a case by case basis.*
